behind/between/next to/across from/in front of/on the corner of 它們的基本中文對應意思分別是：

behind：在‧‧‧後面
between：在‧‧‧中間
next to：在‧‧‧旁邊
across from：在‧‧‧對面
in front of：在‧‧‧前面
on the corner of：在‧‧‧轉角處

現在再分別加以更詳細說明：

behind 也可以用 in back of 代替。例如在教室中「John 是坐在 David 的後面」，則英文是這樣子說：
John is sitting behind David.　或是說　John is sitting in back of David.

between 通常是用在於這樣的句型中：between A and B，中文的意思是「在Ａ和Ｂ之間」。例如「John 是坐在 David 和 Tony 之間」，則英文是：John is sitting between David and Tony.
從上個例子可以看出，between 是用於「在兩者之間」的時候。若是指「在三者之間」，則須改用 among。 另外有一點須注意的是，有些時候在 between 後，並不是「A 和 B」的情形，而是直接接人稱代名詞，如：「John 是坐在他們之間」，這時英文是：John is sitting between them.

next to 也可以用 beside 代替。例如「John 是坐在 Jean 的旁邊」，則英文可有兩種說法：
John is sitting next to Jean.　或是說　John is sitting beside Jean.
(註：beside 不可寫成 besides，besides 的中文意思是「除此之外，還有‧‧‧」)

across from 常見用於街道中，如：「在我們家對面有一所學校」，英文是：There is a school across from our house.

in front of 可以視為 behind/in back of 的相反用用語。另外 in front of 和 before 的差別在於，in front of + 地方；before + 時間。

on the corner of 是指在兩條街的轉角處，所以通常是用於「on the corner of A街 and B 街」的情況下。
