連接詞 because, so, though, but 的使用

本 單元診斷範圍為「連接詞」because/so/though/but 的正確使用。本測驗分二部分，第一部分為單題式測驗，測驗學生是否了解這四個連接詞在簡單句子中的使用；第二部分為綜合式測驗，以測驗學生是否能整合應用 於實際情境中。本單元後，均附有說明檔──「試題解析」，按相關連結後，即可了解正確用法。若有其它問題，請按每頁所附 e-mail 信箱連絡。

第一部分：單題式練習。請依上、下題意，選出最適當答案。

第二部分： 綜合式練習。請依上、下題意，填入 because/so/though/but。

George is a 35-year-old man. He works in a science company. He doesn't have a wife, 　(1)　 he still cooks for himself every day 　(2)　 he thinks it's healthier to eat at home. 　(3)　 his house is not very big, he enjoys his home life very much. He has a nice dog. Its name is Lucky. He likes to eat and play with it when he is at home, 　(4)　 he never feels lonely.

 

 

連接詞 because, so, though, but 的用法說明

because/so/though/but 的中文解釋分別如下：

because：因為
so：所以
　
though：雖然（也可以寫成 although）
but：但是

將上述的中文套入句中，應可輕易地了解第一部分各題的答案了，其中有關 so 和 but 的部分，在連接詞的第一關，即已做過相關練習；但這四個連接詞之所以會放在一起，另外單獨成為一個單元，是因為「因為」和「所以」( because/so)，以及「雖然」和「但是」(though/but)，在中文裡是一起使用的，但英文裡卻一次只能使用一個，如：

1. 「因為」他生病了，「所以」他不能和你一起去看電影。
2. 「雖然」他是沒什麼錢，「但是」他卻過得很快樂。

但上述的兩個中文例句，譯成英文時，卻是：

1_1. Because he is sick, he can't go to the movie with you.
1_2. He is sick, so he can't go to the movie with you.

2_1. Though he doesn't have much money, he lives happily.
2_2. He doesn't have much money, but he lives happily.

在英文中之所以會出現這種現象，是因為 because, so, though, but 都是「連接詞」，而「連接詞」是用來「連接」「子句」的，上述例句 1_1 至 2_2 中，均只有「兩個子句」，當然只能使用「一個連接詞」（參考網頁），而這也是台灣學生常見的錯誤，請務必注意。

另外上述英文句的 1_1 和 2_1，也可以寫成：

1_3. He can't go to the movie with you because he is sick.
2_3. He lives happily though he doesn't have much money.

只是當 because 和 though 所引導的子句放句首時，該子句後需加個「逗號」。（because 參考網頁、though 參考網頁）
